Skratchn Band
Madison Wisconsin - 2002 - 2007
Skratchn was a band in early 2000's started in Stoughton Wisconsin and played all over Dane county and mostly in the Madison Wisconsin areas. The band played over 100 gigs over a few years, Bars, Weddings, and outside events. We opened for Madison County during our time. Skratchn played 50 Friday nights at Badger Bowl on the South side of Madison during 2004 or 2005. I'll add more information as i think about it and i'll add some pictures that i have as well. Keep Skratchn band going. Lets us know here if you have any pictures or stories from those day in the blog. Thanks! Rich

I started a Skratchn Band Youtube channel. I'll be creating some videos that will include our demo, and somewhere around 20 songs from 3 different practice sessions. i'll add the song and pictures to made a video with the recordings. Stop back anytime and see what i've added. Enjoy

This picture is of the earliest posters we made, just on a sheet of paper. Did the best we could in those early years. Great photo though.
Skratchn Demo CD
The Demo
The Skratchn Band demo CD came together in 2004. At the time, Martin (Marty) Jensen’s drum teacher had just built a home recording studio, and we were convinced to use him to record our demo. In hindsight… that was a mistake. 😅
Demos didn’t really matter much at the cover-band level, but in Madison, WI, they were still an important piece of the booking puzzle. Most booking managers required a demo before they’d even consider you, so we had to have one. The project cost us about $350 — not terrible — but if I had it to do over again, I would’ve hired my own recording guy instead of going with a friend-of-a-friend setup. Lesson learned.
That said… it is what it is. The CD existed, it got us in doors, and believe it or not, we landed a lot of gigs with our promo pack. So in the end, it did its job.
I’ll be uploading the recordings to YouTube when I get a chance so they’re preserved properly in the Skratchn archive. 🎧🔥

Set list from out promo pack, so this would have been the earliest songs we learned
