Skratchn Band - Madison Wisconsin Drummer Marty R. Jensen RIP - May 16th 1965 - December 5th 2019

Today I learned some sad news — Marty Jensen, the original drummer of Skratchn back in the early 2000s, passed away on December 5th, 2019.  

Skratchn started in Marty’s basement in Stoughton around 2002 or 2003. That’s where the foundation was laid — just a few of us making noise, finding our sound, and building something that eventually became real. Over time we found Bob and Chuck, and later Mike, and the band truly took shape.

Once I figured out what a promo pack was and how to book shows, we took off — playing over 100 paid gigs and making a lot of great memories along the way.

Skratchn Band - Madison Wisconsin 

Skratchn band played over 100 paying gigs in Madison WI in the early 2000s.  Skratchn played 50 Fridays at the Badger Bowl on Madison Wisconsins south side.  Sold out the Hody Bar in Middleton WI.  Opened for Madison County.  So many other shows.   Badger Bowl used to have bands every weekend in those days and we had become the every Friday band.  Most bars and clubs we played at paid $400 a night back then.  After sound and lights we all made $40 each.  Those were the days.
